Join us on March 17th at 1:00pm for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the new Patrick Henry Community College Loop Trail that winds along a wooded peninsula affording views of the reservoir for nearly its entire length. This new multi-use public trail can be accessed via the upper parking lot near the Frith Building on the PHCC campus.
The trail is made possible through a partnership with Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC), Martinsville City Parks and Recreation, Martinsville Water Resources and the Dan River Basin Association (DRBA) with funding provided from The Harvest Foundation and DRBA members. The new one-mile loop trail is the first phase of the continuing efforts to utilize the natural areas of Beaver Creek Reservoir and provide more public access to this beautiful resource.
A brief ceremony with comments from PHCC, Harvest and Martinsville City representatives will be followed by a ribbon cutting. Participants are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes and take a tour down the trail to see, first-hand, this marvelous addition to Martinsville and Henry County's growing resource of natural surface trails.
Meet at the kiosk in the corner of the upper parking lot adjacent to the Frith Building at the new trail-head. Inclement weather date will be one week later on March 24th at 1 pm.
